The bottle that comes home from school still cold, and still in one piece. These are the Blockhütte water bottles that suit children: 18/8 stainless steel inside and out, so nothing but steel touches the drink, no plastic and no BPA where it matters. The compact 500 ml is the school size, light enough for a small bag and slim enough for a side pocket. Double walls with a copper layer keep water cold for up to 25 hours, so a bottle filled at breakfast is still cold at home time.
Two of them can carry a name, lasered permanently into the steel in our own workshop in Bremen, not printed on top. A name is the cheapest insurance there is against a bottle that never comes back from the cloakroom. Order before 11am UK time on a working day and an engraved bottle is dispatched the same day.
Every part is sold on its own: lid, seal, cleaning brush. When a seal wears out after a couple of school years, you buy a seal, not a new bottle. Three years of guarantee on all of them.
Frequently asked questions
Which size is best for a school bag?
The 500 ml. It is the compact one, lighter and slimmer than the 750 and 1000 ml, and it fits a side pocket and most lunch bags. Older children who drink more usually get on better with 750 ml.
Is a stainless steel water bottle safe for children?
Yes. The body is 18/8 stainless steel and uncoated inside, so the drink touches nothing but steel: no plastic lining, no BPA. Food safety is tested every year by DEKRA, one of Europe's leading independent testing organisations, and the same yearly test covers lead.
Will it leak in a school bag?
No. The lid seals against a food-grade silicone ring and holds fizzy drinks too. A spare seal is in the box from the start, and you can reorder seals on their own.
How long do drinks stay cold?
Up to 25 hours cold and up to 14 hours hot, on double walls with a copper layer between them. Filled at breakfast, still cold when school finishes.
Can I put my child's name on the bottle?
Yes, on two of these bottles. The name is laser engraved into the steel in our own workshop in Bremen, so it cannot rub off in a dishwasher or a school bag. One name per bottle, in one of two fonts, and you see a preview before you order. Order by 11am UK time on a working day and it is engraved and dispatched the same day.
Can it go in the dishwasher?
The steel body is dishwasher safe. Wash the lid by hand: the classic bottle has a bamboo detail on the lid that does not like being soaked over and over. Engraved bottles are better washed by hand too, which keeps the engraving crisp.
